Co-op America’s Green Business Conferences Looking Interesting
I belong to the Green Business Facebook Group and I received a message from the moderator, Tad Hargrave, about the upcoming Green Business Conference in San Francisco next fall hosted by Co-op America. (There’s actually one coming up sooner in Chicago May 13-15.) I’ve never heard of this conference (though I’m sure there are many I haven’t heard of), but judging by their sponsors and guests (Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago and Chris Van Dyke of Nau, for example), it looks like it could be a good session.I’m probably not going to make it to Chicago in May, but I may try for San Francisco in November. Gives me a little more time to plan and save up some cash. Judging by the program online, it looks like there are some really interesting sessions. While I don’t claim to run a green business, it could be an opportunity to learn more about how to apply green business promotional techniques to the marketing work I’ve started doing. Any little bit helps.
If anyone has attended one of Co-op America’s conferences, I’d love to hear your perspective. Is it worth it? Is it not to be missed?

Hi Chris,
I went to the Green Business Conference in SF, in November, 2007. It was fabulous. The conference is run by Co-op America, and the Green Festival runs right after the conference. Co-op America has 25 years of experience and is really the 800 pound gorilla. If I could only go to one conference a year, I’d go to that one.
After attending some very enthusiastic but amazingly lame green conferences, this is the standard all the others should aspire to.
We’ve been a business manufacturing and marketing eco papers since 1995. (so we’ve experienced the ups and downs in the eco space).

I went to the Co-Op America Green Business Conference back in November of 2006. As a student studying the green economy as well as an employee representing a “green” company, I found it to be a great experience!
We switched who we sat with for every meal, but this lead to a bit of a networking overload. Also, things start very early and end pretty darn late, so pace yourself. Lastly, they planned a low-carb meal b/c we weren’t moving around all that much. However, my hostel was quite a far walk from the conference. I was surprised by my level of exhaustion due to this. The food was GREAT, though!!
PS I flew from Florida for this event…. if that can help you better gauge this conference’s worth to me and my company.
